Essential oils are so magical. I first came upon them right after having our sweet baby girl. At the time my best friend was starting to learn about them and decided to host a class at her house. Honestly, I only went to spend some much needed time with my girlfriends but by the end of the night, I was super curious to learn more. At the time our little one was suffering from thrush in her mouth (a bacterial infection). With my holistic background, I was reluctant to give a 2-month-old medication but it seemed like our last resort. But, before I left the class one of the ladies gave me a sample of tea tree oil. We're not talking about the same essential oils you find in a store, this stuff was the real deal. Quality is a must when it comes to your EO's but that's a whole other blog post. Anyhow, I tried the oil on the bottoms of her feet (where our largest pores are) and within about 2 days of continuous application, her thrush was gone.
The rest is history. I love to educate people on the powerful effects that plants have and I also love to create so, Drops of Gratitude was born purely out of passion and curiosity.
One of the things that I love about essential oils (besides what they can do medicinally) is that they are so effective when it comes to mood management. We've all experienced those moments of pure bliss just by walking past a rose bush, freshly mowed grass or cutting into a fresh orange. This is because our sense of smell is the fastest way to our limbic system and our limbic system is kinda like the head honcho of our emotions, hormones, and thoughts. Our state of mind can instantly be altered because of our sense of smell. If we enjoy what we are smelling and the molecules are small enough, BAM our cells are altered.
Essential oils are so powerful because they are made of TINY molecules which make them super quick and effective. Whether you want calmness, clarity or balance, essential oils can help you achieve the desired mental state in a safe and natural way.
"When we inhale the fragrance of an essential oil, the odor molecules travel up the nose where they’re registered by the nerves of the olfactory membranes in the nose lining. The odor molecules stimulate this lining of nerve cells and trigger electrical impulses to the olfactory bulb in the brain. The olfactory bulb then transmits the impulses to the amygdala - where emotional memories are stored - and to other parts of the limbic system of the brain. "
